At 32, Rami was the oldest outfield member of the France squad in Russia and has opted to go out on a high by announcing his retirement in the immediate aftermath of Sunday's World Cup final win over Croatia.
The Marseille defender made 35 appearances for his country, but failed to make a single appearance for his side in Russia.
In fact, Rami was the only outfield player to not feature for 'Les Bleus' at the tournament.
Rami made his debut for his country in a friendly against Norway back on August 11 2010, having previously drawn admiring glances from the Moroccan national team owing to his heritage.
With Benjamin Pavard, Presnel Kimpembe, Samuel Umtiti, Raphael Varane and Kurt Zouma all below the age of 25, France have plenty of young talent coming through to compensate for Rami's retirement.
