It's news that had been weeks in the making. Chelsea fans had been calling for it ever since he failed to produce promising results after such spending in January.
Graham Potter has left Chelsea Football Club by mutual consent, the London side have announced. The Premier League giants wanted to stress that "Graham has agreed to collaborate with the Club to facilitate a smooth transition".
The Blues also took the time to thank the manager for his tireless efforts, as they "have the highest degree of respect for Graham as a coach and as a person. He has always conducted himself with professionalism and integrity and we are all disappointed in this outcome".
The ex-Brighton manager leaves the club in 11th position in the Premier League. Shaky form in the English top flight is what is thought to have led to the decision, with a historically top side like Chelsea not happy sitting in the bottom half. Having said that, they do have a Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid to look forward to in the coming weeks as that appears to be their only way of qualifying for European football next season.
In a total of 31 matches in charge of the London side, the coach managed to get 12 wins and 8 draws, while the side under his command suffered 11 losses. He joined the club on the 8th September 2022, and his first game in charge of the side was a Chmpions League group stage clash against RB Salzburg, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Then came the Premier League debut, which was against fellow Londoners Crystal Palace. He tasted victory on his PL debut, winning 1-2.
For the time being while they search for a new boss to fit the role, Bruno Saltor will take charge of the team as Interim Head Coach. The Chelsea team are keen to use this as positive momentum as they "will all be getting behind Bruno and the team as we focus on the rest of the season. We have 10 Premier League games remaining and a Champions League quarter final ahead. We will put every effort and commitment into every one of those games so that we can end the season on a high".
