OFFICIAL: Pablo Mari joins Arsenal

 Arsenal officially announced Pablo Mari's signing on Twitter. 

According to the club's official statement, the Spaniard is joining the Gunners on a six months loan with an option to buy.

The statement read: "Spanish defender Pablo Mari is set to join us on loan until the end of the season. The 26 year-old joins us from Brazilian side Flamengo, where he helped the Rio de Janeiro based team win the Brazilian Serie A title and the Copa Libertadores last year."

The Spanish player was a key part of Flamengo's stunning 2019 run that lead them to a Copa Libertadores victory and a narrow loss in the Club World Cup against Liverpool. 

Flamengo also published their own statement earlier, bidding farewell to the player. "The time has come to say goodbye to this defender who came to Flamengo to leave his mark on our history, with the Copa Libertadores and Brazilian Championship titles," wrote Flamengo.

Marí arrived from Deportivo de la Coruña and took his place in the team and in the hearts of Flamengo fans. After a dream season, the centre-back now says goodbye to Brazil, trading it for the Premier League.
