OFFICIAL: Nico renews Barça contract until 2026 and moves to Valencia on loan

Gennaro Gattuso has a new addition. The midfielder Nico Gonzalez will be at his disposal for the whole season. A great reinforcement for the 'Che' midfield.

Barcelona announced through their social media a twofold news for the 20-year-old. First, they renewed him until 2026 and then sent him to Mestalla.

"Barça and Nico reached an agreement on the renewal of his contract. Likewise, the club and Valencia agreed on the loan of the player for the 2022-23 season," the 'Cule' club said in a statement.

Until now, Nico's contract with Barça ran until 2024. He therefore earns two more seasons as a 'Cule'. His clause, the club adds, is set at 1,000 million euros.

Nico's arrival at Mestalla was an open secret. Since last Wednesday, the player was already in Valencia, ready to pass the medical and sign with his new team.

Valencia have presented the player in a very special way, without the traditional statement. "Let's play," the club wrote alongside a video. In the images, Nico Gonzalez appears with a controller in his hands and repeats exactly that phrase.

Valencia later welcomed Nico on their website. "He is a skillful, tactically intelligent midfielder who can occupy several positions in midfield," he said of his new player.

Last season, Nico played two games with Barça Atletic and 37 with the first team. He scored two goals and provided two assists.

The player is delighted with the idea of succeeding at Valencia. He recently said goodbye to Barça and explained that, if he leaves, it is to "grow as a footballer".
