Nottingham Forest are one of the most active players in this transfer windoe, The English side, who have returned to the top flight after 23 years, have bolstered their squad with no fewer than 16 new players.
Some of those are well known players such as Jesse Lingard, on a free from Man Utd, Remo Freuler and Gibbs-White. More than 130 million pounds to try and secure Premier League survival.
However, Nottingham Forest's ambitious project has not ended there. After plenty of rumours in recent days, Nottingham Forest and Atletico Madrid reached an agreement to get Renan Lodi on loan. The Brazilian arrives on loan for a season after renewing his contract at Atletico until 2026 and becomed Forest's 17th signing.
Starting place to guarantee his presence at the World Cup
Without doubt, one of the main reasons for making this decision is the fact that he has started featuring less in Atleti's starting XI. The Brazilian has yet to play this season and he has been relegated to the bench because of Simeone's change in formation.
The left-back leaves, for now, Atletico Madrid in what was going to be his fourth season at the club. He had been an indisputable starter for Simeone since his arrival from Athletico Paranaense, but the defender has now become second choice for the Argentinian coach. Sometimes, not even that.
The change in formation has seen players like Saul, Carrasco and even Reinildo rise above him in the pecking order. Being a strong defender is non-negotiable for an Atletico player and Lodi has some weaknesses in defence.
However, in midfield and in attack, the Brazilian is superb. Clear examples of this are the goal he scored at Old Trafford against Man Utd in the last 16 of the Champions League and the equalising goal versus Osasuna in the penultimate game of the title winning 2020/21 season.
At Nottingham Forest, if nothing drastically hanges, he is set to become an indisputable starter. That is Lodi's condition for joining the club as he wants to get game time and good performances to knock on Tite's door ahead of the World Cup in November.

The agreement between Atletico Madrid and Nottingham Forest is a season long loan until 30th June 2023.
At the moment, Lodi has temporarily halted his Atletico career. He leaves with three seasons to his belt where he has played a total of 118 matches and scored six goals.
