Mario Hermoso is ready for a new chapter in his football career just four months after joining Roma. Having been released by Atletico Madrid last summer, the 29-year-old landed in the Italian capital in September but has now completed his transfer to Bayer Leverkusen.
"Bayer 04 Leverkusen have signed the Spanish central defender Mario Hermoso. The 29-year-old joins the champions of Germany and DFB Pokal winners with immediate effect from top-flight Italian club AS Roma on loan to 30 June 2025," reads a statement from the German side.
The deal was sealed once an agreement was reached between the two sides over a dry loan deal valid until June 2025. This means that the Spaniard will play for Xabi Alonso's side until the end of the current season before returning to Roma as no option to buy is included in the contract.
Having completed his medical on Wednesday, Hermoso will look to bolster Leverkusen's defence after falling in Claudio Ranieri's pecking order for the 'Giallorossi' squad. Leverkusen are battling to defend their Bundesliga champions title, sitting in second place behind Bayern Munich.
