'Los Blancos' revealed that secret negotiations had been taking place over recent weeks. At 19 years of age, the Ukranian 'keeper from FC Zorya Luhansk has become a Real Madrid player after having signed a deal that will keep him at the club for the next six seasons.
With his arrival, the Madrid side have secured the signing of an extremely tall goalkeeper (1.91 metres) who is particularly effective in the air and has a promising future ahead of him. Although he is vitrually unknown in Spanish football, the 'keeper had attracted interest from Inter Milan, Napoli and Leicester.
Up until now, Lunin has never played football outside of the Ukraine. He has only spent two seasons as a professional, although they have been successful ones, meaning that he moved from Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in the Ukranian third division to FC Zorya Luhansk who are in the top flight of Ukranian football.
In his first season, he showed his potential thanks to conceding less than a goal a game (23 goals conceded in 24 games), but his second saw that figure rise to 1.5 goals conceded per game (54 in 36).
The official details of his signing have not been revealed yet, but according to 'AS' the young 'keeper cost Madrid €13.4million. The price is similar to the €10million paid for Keylor Navas.
