OFFICIAL: Dele Alli signs for Como with hopes to reignite career in Italy

Dele Alli joins the Italian side on an 18-month contract with an option to extend for a further 12 months based on appearances. "The club believes in Dele's potential and is committed to helping him rediscover his best form," said Como boss Cesc Fabregas. "His experience and leadership qualities will undoubtedly benefit the squad".

The 28-year-old midfielder had been training with the team for several weeks but was convinced by the board and Fabregas to make a place for himself at the club. His involvement with Como will be controlled and he will have a specific role as a ‘mentor’ for the youngsters.

"The focus will be on providing Dele with a supportive environment where he can gradually integrate into the squad," said Como. "While there will be no immediate performance expectations, the club is confident that he will make a significant contribution both on the pitch and as a mentor to the club's young talents".

Alli has been a free agent since leaving Everton in December but carried on training under then-manager Sean Dyche before joining Como on trial. Newly promoted Como are 17th in the Italian top flight with 19 points and will hope the former Tottenham star can help them in their relegation battle.
