Chelsea have recalled Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Crystal Palace. The decision was made after the injuries of Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana, which left the Blues with a real dilemma in defence ahead of a crucial period in the campaign.
"Crystal Palace can confirm that Chelsea have activated an option to recall Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell," the Eagles wrote in a statement on Wednesday.
Enzo Maresca's side reportedly explored the option to go for Chalobah's teammate Marc Guehi to boost Chelsea's defensive departement, however, the route fizzled out due to an elevated asking price of £65 million for the Palace captain.
The 25-year-old Chelsea youth-product was frozen out of the squad last summer as he was considered surplus to requirements at the club. However, following conversations were between the player and sporting director Paul Winstanle, the defender is expected to see regular minutes on the pitch.
