Tottenham Hotspur announced on Friday the signing of Lucas Bergvall, who was being targeted by Spanish giants Barcelona. The Swedish gem has signed for Spurs until 2029 and will join Ange Postecoglou's squad in July.

Lucas Bergvall has turned down Barcelona to join Tottenham Hotspur next season. On his 18th birthday, Spurs announced his signing from Djurgardens IF, although he will join the English side in July.

The London club confirmed on social media that their new signing is committed until 30 June 2029. The talented midfielder becomes the club's most promising new signing under Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham stressed that the 2023/24 season is being Lucas Bergvall's breakthrough campaign in Swedish football. He has played 29 competitive games for Djurgardens IF, having netted three goals.

The icing on the cake is that the 18-year-old made his full international debut for Sweden on 12 January. He came on in the 59th minute of Sweden's 2-1 friendly win over Estonia.
