It was an open secret, until it became official: Belgium now has a new coach. The Royal Belgian Football Association (KBVB) has announced through its official channels Domenico Tedesco as the new national coach.
The 37-year-old Italian coach will replace Roberto Martinez as Belgium's national team coach, following the Spanish coach's departure after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
As the KBVB informed in an official statement published on its website, Tedesco has committed to lead the Belgium national team until after the 2024 European Championship.
On its official website, the Belgian federation stresses that Tedesco is known as a "modern" coach with "high-level international experience", who likes to play "attacking" football with "high pressing".
After spells at Schalke 04, Spartak Moscow and RB Leipzig, the Italian coach now begins a new challenge in his professional coaching career, with his first major challenge ahead of him: qualifying Belgium for UEFA EURO 2024 in Germany.
