Barcelona have reported through their official channels that they have reached an agreement with Los Angeles Galaxy for the transfer of 22-year-old Spanish midfielder Riqui Puig, who has one year left on his contract with the club.
In an official statement published on their website, Barça also inform that they reserve the right to buy back the young academy player in the future and 50% of a future sale.
Riqui had been with the 'Cule' team since 2013, joining from Jabac Terrassa as a young player. Little by little, he was formed and grew in La Masia, rising through the lower categories until he landed in the first team. It was on 5th December 2018 against Cultural Leonesa in a Copa del Rey match when he fulfilled his dream of making his first-team debut.
During the 2019-20 season, the Catalan also played minutes in the first team. Specifically, he played 12 official games, six of them as a starter, and offered a couple of assists. The following season, Riqui earned his place in the first team. In that campaign, he played 24 games, four of them as a starter, and also scored a goal. Last season, he played a total of 544 minutes in 18 matches, starting three times. In that campaign, he scored once again.
Riqui Puig leaves the Camp Nou after 57 appearances, 42 of them in La Liga, and a couple of goals. In addition, the Spain Under-21 international won the Copa del Rey 2020-21 and La Liga 2018-19 with Barça.
