Nyom saw red for Getafe after shocking challenge on Lodi's tibia

After 70 minutes of the match, Getafe had a player sent off after Allan Nyom was given a straight red card. He was dismissed for a terrible tackle on Renan Lodi. 

Atletico Madrid's Brazilian full back wanted to try and stop the ball going out of play and Nyom went with his studs showing. He caught Lodi and referee Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez showed him a yellow card. 

However, the replays showed the challenge was worth much more than a yellow card and the VAR checked the incident. 

Nyom caught Lodi with his studs on the Atletico man's tibia. The Brazilian was lucky he was already falling. Had his leg been planted firmly on the ground, he could have suffered a serious injury. 

The referee was called over to the pitchside monitor and he only needed one replay to change the card from yellow to red. Fortunately for Nyom, Getafe managed to hold on for a 0-0 draw.
