A few months ago, David Villa was thrust into the public eye after accusations that he sexually assaulted a club intern.
The Spaniard, who maintained his innocence, has been fighting the allegations ever since. The American club decided to open an internal investigation and 'ESPN' are reporting that they have come to their conclusions.
The network says the New York City FC found the striker's behaviour to be "inappropriate and unacceptable", and echoed Skyle Badilo's accusations.
The club decided to punish him but haven't said how.
“The allegations made during the course of the investigation were that a small number of players and staff did not act in accordance with the club’s standards in their interactions with the intern and with other club staff,” said the club.
