Napoli scored one of the earliest goals in Europa League history against Spartak Moscow. It took Macedonian Elif Elmas just eleven seconds to score after a bad mistake by goalkeeper Aleksandr Maksimenko.

Elmas made Europa League history on Thursday after an early goal. Just eleven seconds in and Napoli were already in the lead against Spartak Moscow.

It remains to be seen whether it is the earliest goal in Europa League history. The ball went into the net with the second 11 seconds on the scoreboard, so everything points to it being the second fastest.

Jan Sykora, formerly of Slovan Liberec, scored in September 2016 at 10.9 seconds against Qarabag, beating the record set by Spaniard Vitolo in 2015 with Sevilla at 13.2.

Napoli's goal came after a huge mistake by Maksimenko, who failed to save a cross from the right flank, and it was then that Elmas struck with a volley to make it 1-0 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
