Nico Williams says he didn't hear 'silence', unlike Iniesta

Winger Nico Williams scored Spain's opener in the Euro 2024 final against England. Before leaving Germany, he gave an interview to UEFA in which he admitted to not having heard the 'silence' in the moments before he sent the ball into the net. Other players, such as Andres Iniesta at the 2010 World Cup against the Netherlands, admitted to having experienced that moment of peace. 

"I saw that the ball was bouncing and it was clear to me that I had to shoot first time because, if not, Walker was going to block it. I scored and I still can't believe it. I did 50 celebrations because I didn't even know what to do," he explained.

As for his season, he said: "It's unbelievable. I've always dreamed of moments like this. It has been an unforgettable year. I've won the Copa del Rey at my club and the European Championship with Spain. 

"It's a unique feeling. I've never played for a title of this magnitude (the European Championship). Everyone has fought like animals to win it. We feel very proud and we are looking forward to Spain," he added.

He also spoke about his goal and the unity of the national team: "In the end, the 44 days we've been together have been good for something. We understand each other perfectly and we all have a great friendship."
