The Argentinian striker Nicolas Gonzalez has renewed at Vfb Stuttgart until 2024, the Bundesliga side announced. That is a one year extension.
"We are very happy with Nico's evolution in recent months. Last season he had an important contribution which saw us get promoted and this season he has shown his quality both for Stuttgart and Argentina," Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislinitat said.
Gonzalez is currently out due to an injury to his ligaments in his left knee, but the club remain convinced he will recover well and he will once again be important on the pitch.
"Nico feels good at Stuttgart and we believe that he will keep on making progress. Therefore, renewing was a logical step for both parties," Mislintat said. The player, who last summer wanted to change club, also seemed happy at renewing.
"I feel at home here and I'm very happy at signing a new contract. Getting promoted once again was very important for Stuttgart and his evolution this season is positive. I want to help us continue in this way and I'll also be working hard to improve as a player," Gonzalez said.
This season, Gonzalez has played five matches and scored three goals. Last term, in Bundesliga 2, Gonzalez got 14 goals in 27 appearances. The player joined Stuttgart in 2018 from Argentinos Juniors.
