Nico Gonzalez could stay at Valencia

Barcelona are working on reinforcing their team after being eliminated from the Champions League. Joan Laporta, Mateu Alemany and Xavi Hernandez are considering new signings for the January transfer window.

The team were worried about Sergio Busquets' poor performances and the board decided to replace him. Nico Gonzalez is the main contender for Busquets' position.

Xavi was the first to speak about him in Friday's press conference before the clash against Valencia: "We will talk with Nico. Now there is a break and we will decide how the team's situation is."

According to 'Mundo Deportivo', the contract does not include any clause that would allow Barca to cut the loan short between the parties, so both sides will have to negotiate.

The midfielder has lost importance at Valencia, despite Gennaro Gattuso saying that the footballer has a contract with the club and that the coach is not considering his departure.
