Moussa Wague is departing Nice. The footballer is leaving Ligue 1 and will have to return to Barca.
Nice had the option of buying him for 10 million euros plus 500,000 euros in variables.
The club now coached by Patrick Vieira indicated in a statement that Wague, 21, "returns to Catalonia." "Nice have decided not to activate the buyout clause," he said.
According to the agreement reached with Barcelona in January, the played was loaned out until 30th June. If the purchase had been completed, the Spanish club would have still had the option to buy him back for 15 million euros at any time until June 2021.
The Senegalese full back made his debut for the Catalan first team in April 2019. Since then and until his move out on loan, he played six matches, four in La Liga and two in the Champions League.
He has played for Nice five times since going out on loan. "The club wish him the best for the rest of his career," the statement concluded.
The LFP agreed to end the French season on 30th April after the Government ruled that sporting events could not be held until at least September. PSG were declared the chanpions as they were top when the season was halted.
Nice were in fifth position, below PSG, Marseille, Rennes and Lille.
So Quique Setien will see another player join his squad. Wague will linked up with the rest of the Barca squad immediately.
