Newcastle's De Jong and Riviere set to move on

Championship side Reading had agreed a deal to sign Dutch forward Siem de Jong for £2m on a three-year deal but he turned down the Royals and agreed to take a pay cut to join re-join Ajax, the team he spent seven years at before joining Newcastle in 2014.

Riviere also joined the Toon in the summer of 2014 from Monaco, and was told by Rafa Benitez to look for a new club this summer. The 27-year-old is in talks with French side Metz over a two-year deal. 

Benitez hopes these two departures will generate some extra transfer funds as he looks to improve his squad at St James' Park.
