Martin Dubravka, who had signed a season-long loan with Manchester United last summer, is to return to Eddie Howe's side to compete with Nick Pope for the second half of the season.
Since arriving at Old Trafford, the Slovakian goalkeeper has only played two official games with the Red Devils' shirt under Erik ten Hag.
He made his debut in November, when he played against Aston Villa in the third round of the Carabao Cup, while his second appearence was just over a week ago home to Burnley in the same competition.
Dubravka, who joined the Magpies from Sparta Prague, originally on loan in January 2018, has played 130 games during his stay on Tyneside, racking up 37 clean sheets in England's top flight.
