Shkodran Mustafi's situation at Arsenal is not what the German would have wanted at the start of the season. The centre-half has hardly played in the team coached by Mikel Arteta and would be open to leaving if a good offer came along.
According to 'Daily Mirror', the Spanish coach would be open to the possibility too. The Gunners paid nearly 41 million euros for him and he would expect to recover at least half of what was paid three and a half years ago.
Calum Chambers' injury may be a factor in Mustafi's favour and could serve to give him more of a role, although Arteta seems determined to line up defenders like David Luiz, Holding and Sokratis before him.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright spoke to the same newspaper and gave his views on the defender's situation. "He's got someone like Arteta in charge and he's not capable of giving his all to play. I think there's nothing you can do for Mustafi any more, he's a very experienced centre-back and he's not going to change, so Arsenal must be willing to get rid of him," he explained.
