Musiala casts doubt on Bayern future, expresses admiration for Barcelona and Messi

Jamal Musiala, the 21-year-old Bayern Munich sensation, has set the football world abuzz with recent comments suggesting he may not renew his contract with the German giants and expressing his admiration for Barcelona.

In an interview with Sport Bild, Musiala dampened hopes of an imminent contract extension, stating, "Unfortunately, I can't give the fans a Christmas present. There will be no news in the near future". The young attacker, whose current deal expires in June 2026, emphasized his focus on on-field performance amidst the pressure of contract negotiations.

Musiala's revelation about his childhood hero has further fueled speculation about his future, as he disclosed, "When I was a child, I had several shirts and I always wore Messi's. I had one of Neymar's, but Messi was my hero, my favourite player". The German international went on to express his admiration for Barcelona's style of play, particularly highlighting the midfield trio of Xavi, Iniesta, and Busquets.

"Barcelona was my reference team, my favourite team. I could watch their matches over and over again," Musiala added, potentially opening the door for a future move to the Catalan club. While Barcelona's need for a player of Musiala's profile is debatable, given similarities to current squad members like Pedri and Dani Olmo, the player's clear message has undoubtedly caught the attention of the football world.
