The Leicester City winger smashed home a half-volley in the 48th minute to break the deadlock and he continued to be heavily involved in the action for the rest of the half.
Controlling a long ball from the back, Musa charged toward goal, beating Iceland's Kari Arnason in the process.
His maradering run drew opposing goalkeeper Hannes Halldorson from his line. Musa waited for the shotstopper to over commit himself before calmly dancing to the side to blast the ball past two covering defenders and find the back of the net.
The goal sets up Nigeria for a convincing win over Iceland which will keep their hopes of qualifying for the knock-out stages alive.
