Spanish daily 'Marca' have assured that David De Gea has come to an agreement with Real Madrid. Florentino Perez has long since been determined to sign the 26-year-old shot-stopper, but various circumstances have intervened.
Two years ago, with Van Gaal as United boss, a deal over the line failed to come through and the Spanish keeper stayed at Old Trafford. According to reports, a swap had been agreed between both clubs for Keylor Navas to join the Red Devils, along with £15 million.
This time around, Madrid are prepared to offer either £60 million or £30 million and Navas. Mourinho, however, is worried about the ageing Costa Rican goalkeeper, as alternatives in goal are being identified to prepare for De Gea's departure. Here are five names that could end up between the sticks at Old Trafford:
Joe Hart: Having been forced out of City by Guardiola, the keeper is reportedly eager to return to the Premier League. According to 'Marca', Mourinho is fond of the England first-choice goalkeeper.
Kasper Schmeichel: The Leicester City keeper won the Premier League with the Foxes, and could follow the footsteps of his father Peter, who collected silverware at Old Trafford in the 90's.
Gianluigi Donnarumma: The 18-year-old has many suitors, and is widely regarded as one of the goalkeepers of the future. Mourinho could go for a long-term investment, as the youngster's signing would likely be expensive.
Hugo Lloris: The 30-year-old has been in the Premier League since 2012, and could change White Hart Lane for Old Trafford if tempted by the club's ambition and financial power.
Jan Oblak: The Slovenian made Atletico fans instantly forget Courtois when joining in 2014. He would not come cheap, as the most expensive goalkeeper in La Liga history only conceded 18 goals last season.
