This season's Champions League final was one of the worst in recent memory in terms of injuries. While the end of the first half saw Thiago Silva forced off the field, the beginning of the second was Kevin De Bruyne's turn.
The Belgium midfielder was involved in a harsh clash with Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger after 57 minutes, in which he met the defender's shoulder at force. Initially the challenge didn't look too serious, however all became clear in the seconds following the clash.
The assistants entered the pitch to attend to the Belgian, who was clearly in pain. After a first inspection, the decision was made to remove De Bruyne from the field of play, with Gabriel Jesus coming on his place.
As the Belgian left the field of play, you could see a bruise around the left eye as a result of the challenge. An important injury, taking into account that City were behind and the importance of the ex-Chelsea man in Guardiola's game plans.
After a few minutes the decision was made to take him back to the changing rooms, as the injury meant he was unable to watch the rest of the match alongside his teammates on the bench.
