More bad news for Barca: De Jong suffers right leg muscle injury

Bad news for Frenkie de Jong. The 25-year-old midfielder has suffered an injury to the biceps femoris in his right thigh. This has been announced through Barcelona's official channels.

The Catalan club have shared the official medical report of the Netherlands international after De Jong himself was ruled out of the Netherlands squad with a muscle injury.

Barca carried out more detailed tests on their player in order to find out the exact problem of De Jong, who will now have to spend some time on the sidelines until he fully recovers.

However, Barcelona have not specified how long the player will be out for and have only indicated that his return to the field of play will depend on his progress.

For the time being, the Dutch international will miss this Saturday's league game against Elche at the Martinez Valero and is practically ruled out for 'El Clasico' against Real Madrid on Wednesday, in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
