Martin Montoya is not looking to return to Barcelona ahead of next season despite the possibility of first team football with Dani Alves leaving the club.
The defender who came up through the club's youth academy spent the 2015-16 season away from the Camp Nou, going out on loan to Inter and then to Real Betis.
With Dani Alves' imminent move to Juventus, there is a first team spot to fill in his preferred right-back position. However it is believed the player is will still look for another club.
The 25-year-old broke into the first team five years ago, however has made only 65 appearances, so is looking to leave the club in search of regular first team football, despite having two years left on his contract.
Betis are keen to sign the player permanently, however cannot match his wage demands at Barcelona. "We are not prepared to match Montoya's wages at Barcelona, which means an agreement is far off right now," the clubs sporting director Miguel Torrecillo recently revealed.
The Catalan giants received several offers for the defender last summer before loaning him out, so aren't expected to struggle to sell him this time around.
