21-year-old Diakhaby into the first team last season after a spell with an affiliate club. The striker is considered to be a player with a bright future in the game and as such he would not necessarily go straight into the first team, despite having represented France's U21 side.
At first glance, his stats do not look overly impressive, with the player scoring 4 times in 25 League games last season. However, on closer inspection, in 25 Ligue 1 appearances he only made three starts. That means that the player's four goals were scored in just 705 minutes of time on the pitch, a much more respectable return. The 21-year-old also scored in the only French Cup game he played.
The striker has already received offers from England, but Monaco boss Leanardo Jardim is certain that he should be Kylian Mabppe's replacement, should the Frenchman move on this summer. Rennes are expected to demand a fee in the region of €10m in order to let the player go, something which would pose no probem to Monaco given the riches that they have amassed this summer.
