"Messi still needs a bit of time... and sun"

After spending his last few years in La Liga, Kevin Gameiro decided to return to France last summer. The former PSG, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Valencia player, among others, returned to Strasbourg, a team he was playing for when he was just 18. 

Now, with the season about to finish, the 34 year-old French striker has scored 10 goals and given three assists in the 34 competitive matches he has played. 27 of them are a starter. 

Following the 3-3 draw with PSG, Gameiro spoke about Leo Messi, who is receiving lots of criticism over his performances in Ligue 1 compared to when he was playing for Barcelona. 

When asked about the Argentine, Gameiro did not hesitate in coming to his defence: "He still needs a bit of time... and a bit of a sun. The change is not easy, he needs time, but he's a great player. Messi showed at Barcelona and at PSG how great a player he is. We are lucky to have him in our league."
