"Swallow me up, ground", is what Álvaro Medrán had to have said in his latest MLS match. Chicago Fire were losing 2-0 against Orlando City when the Spaniard's team got a penalty. And the ex-Madrid player wanted to hit it.
The forward Robert Beric also asked for the ball to hit it and there began a heated discussion between both of them.
Even the captain Francisco Calvo had to intervene to put some peace of mind and convince Beric that Medrán would hit it. The forward reluctantly accepted and left the box visibly annoyed.
So, Medrán was able to hit the penalty that he wanted... and ended up missing it. The midfielder shot to the left and the goalkeeper Pedro Gallese went the right way to save it. Chicago Fire ended up losing 4-1.
