Seventen-year-old Gomes made his United bow against Crystal Palace last season and has been included in the match-day squad for the last two FA Cup ties, featuring off the bench against Yeovil. After a 10-month lay off due to knee ligament damage last January, Chong, 18, has been in stellar form in the academy.
Both players now regularly train with Jose Mourinho's team and Matic was quick to praise the pair: "They are good players,' Matic said in the United programme ahead of their 2-1 win over Chelsea. "They're still very young but they show every time they train with us that Manchester United has a good future."
"I remember when I was young how important it was to train with the best players and I hope they will continue like this," the Serbian concluded.
