The Maritzburg United striker was struck by lightning during a friendly on the 1st March, and had been in an induced coma in hospital since then.
The club announced Ntshangase's death in a statement posted on Facebook. Maritzburg chairman Farook Kadodia revealed that the squad and staff are in mourning.
Kadodia said: ''We are extremely sad about the loss of Luyanda, an exciting young player with enormous potential.''
''He had been nurtured by the club and brought through our ranks, having being given his debut against Kaizer Chiefs two season’s ago by former head coach Ernst Middendorp.''
''On behalf of Maritzburg United Football club, we would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the Ntshangase family in their time of bereavement - our prayers and thoughts are with you.''
The 21-year-old was one of three players who were struck, with the others suffering only mild injuries. The club is liaising with Ntshangase's family in order to finalise the memorial service and funeral details.
