Marcos Alonso to renew after Xavi's approval

In September, left-back Marcos Alonso arrived at the Camp Nou. Since then, he has played 17 games and they have been enough to persuade Xavi how much he can contribute to the team. 

'Sport' says that Xavi has given the green light to him being renewed. Therefore, it just needs Barca to sit down with the footballer to talk about his new contract as his current one expires in June. 

Barcelona's plan is to wait until the January window closes. After that, they will calmly reach an agreement with Marcos Alonso.

The full-back wants to stay, but it remains to seen for how many seasons. His contract could be extended by one or two years. The former Chelsea man would rather stay for two seasons, but the Catalans prefer a 12 month extension. 

Barca and Marcos Alonso have to come together and talk. The good thing is that the club and the player both agree that he should continue so it should not take long for his contract renewal to be agreed.
