Marcelo terminates Olympiacos contract and returns to Madrid

Marcelo has terminated his contract with Olympiacos after negotiations with the Athens club's board, according to local media reports. Just five months after his signing for the Greek champions, the 34-year-old Brazilian full-back will no longer be part of the team.

During this period, the former Real Madrid player played 332 minutes in ten games and scored three goals. According to the Greek portal 'Sport 24', the player has an offer from another team, although it is not specified which club.

Although his arrival last September (free after finishing his contract with Madrid) sparked enthusiasm among the club's supporters - some 25,000 attended his presentation at the Karaiskakis stadium - the player could not find a place at left-back under either Carlos Corberan or current coach Michel. The contract he had signed was for one year, with the possibility of an extension for another year.

The Piraeus side is Greece's biggest club, and in the last ten years has won the league eight times and the Greek Cup three times, during which time it has only missed the group stage of the Champions League three times.
