Marcelo has decided to put an end to his time in Europe after 16 years in European football. From now on, the Brazilian will play for Fluminense, the club that trained him as a professional footballer.
The last time he wore the 'Flu' jersey was on 12th November 2006, in a match against Cruceiro in the Brasileirao. From there he started his way to Madrid, where he spent 16 seasons, before ending up at Olympiacos, with whom he terminated his contract a few days ago.
He did not feel very comfortable at the Greek club - he arrived at the beginning of September 2022 - and has barely played ten games, in which he has been able to score three goals. In terms of minutes, a total of 332'.
"The time has come to return," read Fluminense's statement on their account. Minutes before the announcement, Marcelo himself had already let it be known that he was close to signing a contract.

Many people thought that his new team would be Cristiano's Al Nassr, but in the end there will be no reunion between the Portuguese and the Brazilian. The full-back will try to do his bit and will play in the Copa Libertadores, a competition he has not yet played in.
