The 'Selecao' kick off their tournament on Sunday evening in Rostov-on-Don where they will be looking to neogiate a tricky Swiss side spearheaded by some decent talent.
Neymar, Gabriel Jesus, Willian and Philippe Coutinho will be carrying the burden of delivering goals but it will be Marcelo who will lead the team out onto the Rostov Arena pitch.
Since Tite was appointed national team coach in June 2016, he has used 14 different captains in 21 games.
His captains have been: Dani Alves (four times), Miranda (three), Neymar (two), Thiago Silva (two), Marcelo (two, as of Sunday), Casemiro, Renato Augusto, Gabriel Jesus, Willian, Philippe Coutinho, Fernandinho, Marquinhos, Filipe Luis and Robinho.
However, Marcelo's appointment is recognition of his talents and importance to the Brazilian squad, one in which he has been capped 54 times.
His flair and bubbly personality, along with his club experience, will no doubt be a great mix for this team-mates and should help ease some of the pressure off one of the favourites for this summer's tournament during their World Cup opener.
