Excitement is the word which best defines Man Utd's first game under Erik ten Hag. Even though it was just a friendly, his team were far too good for a team who will be their direct rivals in the Premier League, Liverpool. They beat them 4-0 and there was a huge gulf between the teams on the pitch.
It is also true that Jurgen Klopp, at least because of the way he made changes, took the encounter as ideal preparation for all of his squad. Proof of this is that he replaced many of his footballers every half an hour. His opposite number, on the other hand, made changes to his team at half-time and in the second half.
Ten Hag managed to get a victory which is set to lay down a marker. The goalscorers were Jadon Sancho, Fred, Martial and Pellistri. The first three were scored in the opening 33 minutes while the final goal came in the final quarter of an hour of the contest.
A major blow for Klopp's Liverpool in which Darwin Nunez's debut was the main bit of news. He was one of the main signings to counteract others like that of Erling Haaland for Man City. Ahead of the upcoming pre-season friendlies, it will be key for Liverpool to get back to their best.
