Monaco centre-back Axel Disasi is being targeted by several European clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea. Nonetheless, the Red Devils are in pole position to secure his services.
The France international still has to improve his performances to play in the English top-flight but Erik ten Hag's side are keen to sign him to bolster his skills. The English club intend to bring in the 25-year-old as a back-up to Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.
Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre agrees with the board's intentions and believes the Frenchman could "join a top team" in the next transfer window.
"Monaco had a difficult season, but he stood out in that side. He's not the finished article and still has aspects of his game that he needs to improve, like his positioning and decision-making. Although, his biggest strength is in one-v-one situations.
"If you look at United’s existing options, he could be one that is in a rotation with [Lisandro] Martinez and [Raphael] Varane, but I don't think he would be a starter from the get-go," he continued.
"He could fit the bill this summer, or maybe in January. I think he’s intelligent and knows where he wants to go, so I can see him joining a top team soon."
