Manchester United have made notable progress in the negotiations for Patrick Dorgu since it was reported last week that they were interested in bringing the 20-year-old to Old Trafford. According to 'Sky Sports Italy', the deal has now reached its final stages.
The same source reports that the Red Devils are prepared to splash out around €40 million - €30m plus €7.5m in bonuses - for the Lecce defender, making him the first signing of the Ruben Amorim era. Dorgu is said to have already given his green light for the move as formal steps remain to be finalised.
With impressive performances in Serie A, Man United believe Dorgu is suited to the Portuguese manager's style of play and will be able to easily slip into his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation, which United players have struggled to get up to terms with.
Paris Saint-Germain's Nuno Mendes was initially ahead of the Dane in Man United's wishlist for the left wingback role, however, the club would've had to pay a significantly higher amount to seal the deal for the 22-year-old.
