At just 16, Kilmarnock Scot Liam Smith has already taken the big leap. The British team announced his immediate arrival at Manchester City, who have taken advantage of the break to speed up his incorporation.
At his age, Liam Smith will be among the youngsters of the 'citizen' team, with a view to moving up to the first team in a few years' time.
He is a talented player who helped Kilmarnock's U-18s reach the Youth Cup final and has already made his debut with Scotland's U-17s.
The Scottish team has not disclosed the amount of the settlement, but they did lament his departure. "Although we wanted to see Liam continue his growth at Rugby Park and we are disappointed to lose him, we understand and appreciate the great opportunity that his move to Manchester City presents. We wish him well in the English team," the club published in the words of the team's head of football, James Fowler.
Liam Smith plays as a left-winger, although he is versatile and can play on the inside and even in midfield as an organisational pivot.
