Majority of Morocco fans will be at the Olympic semi-finals against Spain

Spain will face Morocco on Monday (18:00 CEST, -2 GMT) at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille in an Olympic Games semi-final match where 52,000 fans are expected in the stands, with a large Moroccan majority.

Of the 52,000, 70 per cent are expected to be Moroccan fans, both teams were told at a pre-match meeting on Sunday afternoon.

Morocco will therefore play at home, on the scoreboard and in the stands in a 67,000-capacity Velodrome, which will exert pressure on the African team to qualify for an Olympic final for the first time in its history.

The referee for the match has also been officially announced and will be Uzbekistan's Ilgiz Tantashev, who refereed the quarter-final between France and Argentina.

He also has a track record as a referee, having officiated in the final of the last edition of the Asian Champions League between Al-Ain and Yokohama Marinos, in which Soufiane Rahimi, Morocco's striker, scored a brace.
