The Real Madrid goalkeeping debate has been opened after the recovery of Thibaut Courtois and the good level shown by Andriy Lunin in his absence. Diego Lopez, a former Real Madrid player, gave an interview to 'AS' and spoke about it: "There is no one better to decide than Ancelotti".
"It's difficult for me to position myself because I'm not in there to live day to day. Whoever comes out, the guarantee is total because they are two great goalkeepers. There is a lot of talk about it and it is logical, but we have to give normality to the situation," he explained.
"Ancelotti has the most information about both, so he will make the right decision for the good of the team. And knowing him, he will know how to explain it very well to both of them.
As to when goalkeepers should find out about this choice, he gave his personal opinion: "I can say that as a player I liked to know in advance and not wait until the last moment. The goalkeeper needs to know a few days beforehand to prepare himself in terms of concentration and mentalisation.
Diego Lopez has confidence in both goalkeepers, but he is very clear that for him "Courtois is the best goalkeeper in the world". He also believes that "he'll be back to best" once his injury is completely behind him.
