There are just a few days to go before Real Madrid's pre-season training starts and there is great uncertainty over David Alaba's condition. Vienna-based newspaper 'Die Presse' have reported that they do not see a return for the full-back until at least 2025.
The newspaper says Alaba's knee injury is much worse than what has come to light and that is why the player is making a very slow recovery. Rodra, a journalist for ' Relevo', reported just over a month ago that the player had to undergo another operation on his left knee.
Looking back, Alaba's bad luck with injuries began on 17 December 2023 against Villarreal. The Austrian ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and underwent surgery, to return by the start of the 2024-25 season at the latest.
Militao and Courtois also suffered the same injury and returned within approximately eight months. The left-back is on his way to seven months and will continue to do so due to mobility problems, as reported by 'Heute'.
The German newspaper insists that the Austrian defender is still unable to run and also indicated that the player himself was recently seen climbing stairs with great difficulty.
Madrid's medical services are already waiting for the 15 July start of pre-season to find out the condition of Alaba, who could be out of action for more than a year.
