The Frenchman was under pressure going into the game, with Leicester having won just once this season and on a run of three consecutive defeats.
That run looked set to continue as the 'Terriers' took the lead with just five minutes on the clock, with defender Mathias Jorgensen sneaking an effort beyond Kasper Schmeichel from close range.
However, a lapse at the back from the visitors allowed Leicester to level through Kelechi Iheanacho as he finished off a slick counter-attack.
The turnaround was completed in the second half as Maddison and Vardy came to the fore with a goal apiece.
Maddison struck first, curling home a wonderful free-kick from 25 yards after Nampalysa Mendy was brought down, before Vardy then raced clear and dinked an effort over the advancing Jonas Lossl to secure the points.
Despite their poor run the win moves Leicester up to eighth, whilst Huddersfield prop up the division.
