Lyon reject West Ham's £18m bid for Marcelo

West Ham are not holding back in their summer recruitment, and having already signed six players, including three defenders (Issa Diop, Ryan Fredericks and Fabian Balbuena), they are looking to add another player into their defensive roster. 

The next man on their shopping list is Marcelo, a Brazilian centre-back who plays for Ligue 1 side Lyon. Marcelo has only been at Lyon for one season, joining last summer from Besiktas for just £6.3m.

The 31-year-old made 35 appearances last season, scoring three times, and West Ham are keen on bringing him to the London Stadium. However, according to the 'Daily Mail', Lyon have turned down an initial bid from the club, and are holding out for £20m.
