Andriy Lunin is suffering from Influenza B. The goalkeeper was unable to train with the rest of the squad on Tuesday due to a fever that is known to correspond to this illness. In fact, Thibaut Courtois was the only first-team goalkeeper in training as Kepa Arrizabalaga was absent due to personal matters.
According to 'COPE', the plans are for the Ukrainian to stay in the Spanish capital and not accompany the rest of his teammates on the trip to London, which is scheduled for tomorrow to avoid possible contagion. If he improves, he would join the squad later, possibly on the day of the final.
Influenza B presents the classic symptoms of this type of virus. The most common are high fever, headache, sore throat, joint and muscle pain, cough, tiredness and nasal congestion. These symptoms are usually milder than those of influenza A but last longer.
The Ukrainian put in some great performances during Courtois' absence but the Belgian's availability and his good feelings in the weeks he has been competing made the picture much clearer.
