Real Madrid player Lucas Vazquez posted a tweet with two laughing emoticons shortly after Luis de la Fuente announced the squad for the European Championship. According to the Galician winger, it was not related to his not being called up for the continental tournament.
Lucas Vazquez used the Champions League ‘Media Day’ ahead of the final to claim that he had ‘nothing to do’ with the list of 29 players called up for the European Championship.
"I saw that a good one was made out of it. It had nothing to do with it, I actually posted it quite late. It was a reply to a tweet, but it wasn't about that. I've seen what has been created and, well, I simply deny it," the Real Madrid player told the media.
Lucas Vazquez expressed his "maximum support for the national team". ‘I have always been very supportive of the national team. I encourage them to win the European Championship and bring it back home,’ he added.
The Real Madrid player was asked about his non-call-up: "The coach decides. I think I've done what was asked of me at the club. It's the coach who makes the decisions".
