What's at stake on final day of 2023/24 Premier League season?
Yet another season the Premier League has not disappointed us and has left us in front of a grand finale in which there are still many things at stake. The competition crown, the European places and the relegation battle are still to be decided.
All signs point to Manchester City claiming an unprecedented fourth consecutive title, but if the Cityzens fail to match or better Arsenal's result against Everton, it will be the Gunners who lift the trophy.
While the Champions League places are already secured (Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa), the battle for both the Europa League and Conference League is still alive and kicking.
Chelsea and Tottenham are aiming to finish fifth and thus secure a place in next year's Europa League. Spurs are three points clear of the Blues, so the only way for Pochettino's side to steal fifth place from their London neighbours would be for them to beat Bournemouth and for Postecoglou's side to lose to Sheffield United.
Sixth place secures a place in European competition but depends on the outcome of the FA Cup final between Man City and Man Utd. If the Sky Blues win the final, the sixth-placed team will play in the Europa League next season and the seventh-placed team will play in the Conference League. But if the Red Devils beat the Cityzens in the final, the sixth place finishers will play in the Conference League next season and there will be no prize for seventh place.
Tottenham, Chelsea and Newcastle can all finish sixth and even eighth-placed Manchester United could do so, but due to their worse goal difference it is less likely.
In the relegation battle Luton Town are likely to join Burnley and Sheffield United back in the Championship. To avoid relegation and condemn Forest, the Hatters need a win at Fulham and a defeat for the Tricky Trees at Turf Moor. In addition, Rob Edward's side need a 12-goal swing in their favour to avoid relegation.
