Lisandro Martinez was injured in the Red Devils' 3-0 victory over West Ham, the Argentine had to be substituted and Erik ten Hag told the press conference that the injury did not look good.
According to an injury update from Argentinian broadcaster 'TyC Sport', Martinez will not have to undergo surgery as expected and an ACL injury has been ruled out.
Manchester United later released a statement confirming the news. "Lisandro Martinez has sustained an injury to the medial collateral ligament in his knee and is expected to be out of action for at least eight weeks. We all wish Licha a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the pitch later in the season," said the club in a statement.
The centre-back could potentially return for the final seven Premier League matches of the season and the latter stages of the FA Cup. The player has not been having good luck in his time at Old Trafford with injuries and just when it looked like he was becoming available to help the team again and Ten Hag was giving him playing time, he has suffered a further setback that will keep him on the sidelines for a while.
